The manual contains brief information about speech genres, the study of which was first introduced into the school curriculum in the Ukrainian language for lyceum students (standard level), substantiates the feasibility of this innovation, provides materials which are not in any manual or textbook on methodology, as well as samples of exercises and tasks that contribute to their mastery and gaining experience in speech practice. The authors also offer language material for the implementation of creative ideas of the teacher. The study of speech genres contributes to the functionality of language knowledge and skills, strengthening motivation, establishing interpersonal relationships, overcoming barriers to communication, gaining confidence in the process of self-realization of students. The manual is addressed to teachers of Ukrainian language and literature, students of philological faculties of pedagogical universities, methodologists, graduate students, doctoral students and teachers.
