The article is devoted to the review of the asynchronous format for the work of all participants in the educational process, taking into account the new realities in which Ukraine is located, and as a result, new educational standards in higher education institutions. The article attempts to present various possibilities of using both distance learning systems in a higher educational institution, and an independent approach to teaching English in an asynchronous format. The article describes the types of independent work for students who speak English at different levels, from elementary to advanced. Particular attention is paid to the involvement of students in learning in an asynchronous format, which depends on the relationship between students, their sense of being part of a community and the communication distance between the teacher and students. The authors of the article point out the importance of the role of the curator in asynchronous learning, which will support the motivation of students, will not let them go the distance, will help organize communication between students and teachers, as well as between students with each other.
