Широкий набір заходів, передбачених італійським законодавством, значною мірою відповідає вимогам кібербезпеки, розробленим інститутами ЄС. Гнучке національне законодавство засноване на постановах уряду, що дозволяє уникнути надмірної нормативної бази, оскільки в нього можна легко і відносно швидко вносити поправки. The special Agency for National Cyber Security deals with issues of countering cybercrime and the development of strategies and methods of protection against cyberattacks in Italy. The new provisions of the EU cyber security legal framework have been implemented in the Italian national legislation in accordance with the "Directive on Network and Information Security". The wide range of measures provided for in the Italian legislation is largely in line with the cyber security requirements developed by the EU institutions.
