Актуальність дослідження полягає в універсальності проблем, порушених фантастом, у потребі визначити своєрідність фантастичного жанру у його творчості, вивчити комплекс ідей та передбачень розвитку людства. За допомогою культурно- історичного та герменевтичного підходів у роботі виокремлено низку проблем існування соціуму, розглянуто глобальні загрози гуманізму та засоби їх художнього втілення в зазначених романах. Дослідження буде корисним студентам, що вивчають наукову фантастику, літературознавцям та загалом фахівцям гуманітарної сфери. The work is devoted to social and philosophical coverage of the social and philosophical issues of the science fiction novels “The Time Machine” and “The War of the Worlds” by the British writer H.G. Wells. The relevance of the study lies in the universality of the problems raised by the science fiction writer, in the need to determine the originality of the science fiction genre in his work, to study the complex of ideas and predictions of human development. With the help of cultural, historical and hermeneutical approaches, the work identifies a number of problems of society's existence, considers global threats to humanism and the means of their artistic embodiment in these novels.
