The work reveals the concept of «assessment» in scientific and pedagogical literature, highlights its goals, objectives, and functions; determines approaches to the formation of assessment competence in teacher training; analyzes the theory and practice of developing the assessment competence of future primary school teachers in higher education institutions; examines the state of development of the assessment competence of future primary school teachers; and develops pedagogical conditions for developing the assessment competence of future primary school teachers.
