The purpose of the work is improvement of the technology of calcium hexaluminate lightweight products. The research methods are chemical, petrographic, physic mechanical and thermo physical ones. The researches on the technology development of calcium hexaluminate lightweight products were carried out. The amount influence of an alumina-silica lightweight material additive of three fractions on the physic mechanical properties of calcium hexaluminate lightweight products were studied. An optimal composition from a mixture of alumina with the alumina-silica lightweight material addition of a predetermined fraction was chosen and an optimal firing mode was established in order to provide lightweight samples from thincrystalline CA6 (in the subordinate amount of Al2O3 and СA2) with an apparent density not more than 1 g/cm3, a cold crushing strength is not less than 4.5 N/mm2. The pilot batches of calcium hexaluminate lightweight products with an apparent density of 1.3 and 1.0 g/cm3 with the alumina-silica addition and an optimal composition with the alumina-silica lightweight material addition were produced, their service characteristics were investigated. It was established that, the obtained products are characterized by an apparent density of 0.95 g/cm3, a cold crushing strength of 5.1 N/mm2, a thermal conductivity of 0.26 Wt/(m·K) at an average temperature of 650 °С, with a service temperature of 1400 °C. The pilot products with the alumina-silica lightweight material addition according to physic mechanical and thermo physical properties are not inferior to calcium hexaluminate lightweight products with an apparent density of 1.0 g/cm3, obtained from masses with the alumina-silica addition. According to the chemical composition, lightweight products with the alumina-silica lightweight material addition, in comparison with calcium hexaluminate lightweight products with an apparent density of 1.0 g/cm3, contain less SiO2 in ~ 2 times, Fe2O3 in ~ 3 times and are close to calcium hexaluminate lightweight products with an apparent density of 1.3 g/cm3, which makes it possible to predict their resistance in reduce atmosphere. The technology of calcium hexaluminate lightweight products with an apparent density of 1.0 g/cm3 was improved.
