Purpose: to assess the radiation doses of the population of Ukraine from the use of drinking water, to develop scientific approaches to monitoring the quality of drinking water, to propose measures to minimize the impact of radioactivity on the formation of radiation doses to the population. It is proved that the indicators of total alpha activity and radon-222 activity for the territory of Ukraine can be considered as markers of territories where people can receive additional levels of radiation with constant use of drinking water from artesian wells. It is established that the criticality of radiation doses caused by radium-226 and uranium in drinking water for different regions of Ukraine significantly affects the region of origin of water. Recommendations on the frequency of monitoring depending on the region and measures to minimize the radiation exposure of the population from drinking water are substantiated.
