The aim of the work is to develop a methodology for forming the structural form of new generation spatial structures with high performance through the use of composite profile elements of channels and corners, as well as to develop a method for calculating shapeless components from pentagonal rods. The purpose of the research is: on the basis of a comparative analysis of geometric characteristics to conclude that the advantages of using in the construction of truss rods of pentagonal cross-section instead of rectangular and square. To develop a computational model of a shapeless joint of pentagonal truss rods, which would scientifically substantiate the use of shapeless joints in the structures of trusses of small and medium spans - in contrast to the shaped joints used traditionally.
