The purpose of the scientific project to analyze the foreign policy doctrines of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Poland concerning the Ukrainian state (2004-2018), to follow changes in the content and strategic direction of the foreign policy of these states, which took place under the influence of internal political processes at the beginning of the XXI century; to consider the influence of political factors, "national memory" in each country on the formation of bilateral relations with Ukraine; characterize the evolution of the socio-political thought of neighboring states to the realization by Ukraine of the Western vector of foreign policy, the revival of the values of freedom, dignity, filling the "white spots" of national history.
