The theme aims at examining specificity of development of the Ukrainian folkloristic thought of the 19th–21st cc., particularly in the context of the fight for national identity; evaluating contemporary folklore studies and outlining perspectives of their further development in the paradigm of European humanitarian studies. Priority will go to analyzing the methodological background of folklore studies in the given period, their research schools and heritage of key figures, exploring principles of documenting the folklore tradition as well as studying the use of folklore plots, motives, images and literary devices in Ukrainian literature.
