Goal of work - carring out of the effective ways for strengthening of the steel bridges by means of pre-stressing and practical methods of calculating of their load-carring. The methodology for the determination of classes of span structures with ferms and girders with an unbroken wall under strengthening with the pre-stressed tightens and sprengells was worked out. The results of the work and the calculation methodology for strengthening of the span structures of the steel bridges with using of pre-stressing were included in a project of a branch standard 'Guidelines for Determination of Load-Carring of steel span structures of Railway Bridges'. The efficacy of the work concludes in a possibility of decreasing of the expenditure of steel during of a bridge strengthening, decreasing of breaks of train moving during the carring of works, in increasing of reliability and longevity of bridges.
