The investigations of physical mechanisms for electrical, optical, and photo-chemical phenomena in layered and quantum-size semiconductor structures were performed. The devices based on the structures were also studied. The peculiarities of physical effects in space confined semiconductor structures were established. The availibility of the proposed scientific approaches for new type devices creation was demonstrated.
