Also, the estimation of stabi- lity margins for running off the rails are proposed. Analytically, the ef- fects of changes in the design of bearing the freight wagon body on the truck, in particular replacement of standards (rigid) slide bearings by ellastically dissipative ones are studied. Algorithms and programs for numbering the ima- ges and approximating the wheel raill-surface profile by using the analytical functions and for visualizating the results in solving problems on the dyna- mics of railway vehicles are developed. The effects of conditions of truck and running gears of railway vehicle on stability in running off the rails are examined. The stiffnesseffects of the spring set, and the influence of forces in axle box opening on the value of a critical velocity are evaluated. Based on fulftilled calculations, new results are obtained: about the effects of changes in the design of running gears and track parameters on stability of railway vehicles; about criteria for developing wear-resistance rim pro- file for the railway wheel, permitting a strong decrease in its wear without degradating the dynamic performance of freight and passenger vehicles; about the evaluation of the wheel stability in running off the rails. Programs for numbering the images and visualizating wheel rail contacts have made rapidity and simplicity in analysis of the results of solution of railway vehicles dy- namics problems possible. Obtained results are used in practice for designing new railway vehicles and for improving the existing ones, including high-speed vehicles. Applications - railway transport.
