The main regularities of electron field emission from porous silicon layers, silicon tips and porous silicon coated with thin DLC films have been established. It was shown that deposition of thin DLC film allows to enhance significantly emission properties of cathodes - efficiency and stability. The technological condition fot obtaining minimal values of work function has been determined ( using ratio of diamond-like sp3 and graphite-like phases). The condition for significant improvement of field emission stability, which include the forming in optimized condition N-doped diamond-like carbon films of =50 ± 20 nm thickness has been obtained. New quantum-size effect - resonance tunneling at field emission, that realized at coating the silicon and GaAs tips with ultrathin (8-10 nm) low-dimensional diamond-like carbon films has been revealed and analyzed. The resonance tunneling phenomenon from multilayered cathodes is the base for structures with high frequency oscillations of electron flows generation.
