Objective: to study the role of aldehyde catabolism enzymes as regards age changes of the organism resistance to oxidative stress. Methods: spectrophotometry, spectrofluorimetry, differencial centrifugation. Theoretical and practical results, novelty: in the development certain conditions are formed in the liver and in the skeletal muscle of rats to change aldehyde dehydrogenase and aldehyde reductase function during immobilization stress. The conditions manifested themselves through specific strain related to aldehyde utilization in aldehyde reductase reaction in the liver of 1,5-month-old rats, and through delay in their utilization in aldehyde dehydrogenase and aldehyde reductase reaction in the muscle. The role of these enzymes activation and biosynthesis stimulation is supposed to be these increasing the resistance to oxidative stress.
