Purpose - to reveal laws of formation mortality of the population of RCT from basic of noncancer diseases; to give an estimation of a public idea on efficiency of social protection and image of life of the population of RCT in the last period after the accident. To develop the recommendations concerning optimization of medico-social protection of the inhabitants of RCT and improvement of their health. Methods: sociological, demographic, mathematics-statistical, soft-technological. Results: on RCT in 1986-2002 is increased of mortality from all causes of death; the mortality from illnesses of the circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system, blood and blood-forming organs has a different orientation. In able-bodied age does more of male, than of female. In the five years the increase of mortality in younger age is marked. The standardized coefficients testify to the tendency to increase of mortality from illnesses of circulatory system and digestive system with the greatest levels in Kiev and Zhitomir oblasts. The public opinion on problems of social-psychological and medico-demographical consequences of the accident is characterized by stability, negative orientation, by immaturity and is caused by absence of high-grade informing of the population. On the data of self-estimations a condition of health of the village able-bodied population on RCT significantly high, than in the control, and critical - age group 16-19 years. The migration of installation on resettlement from RCT have 21,6 % of the respondents. The main causes of resettlement are a unsatisfactory condition by health, concern by a condition of health of a children, low standard of well-being and unsatisfactory social state of health.
