Among quantitative methods of public opinion survey the method of public opinion survey was chosen as the basic method. The expediency of application of the method was grounded; the basic concepts and terms were explained. The comparative analysis of the most used methods of interrogation was carried out: independent filling of questionnaires by a respondent (mail interrogation, interrogation in an audience, etc.); interview and telephone interrogation. Practical moments of preparing and carrying out interrogation were described in details: development of a sample, preparation of a questionnaire, of interviewers, the control of their work, etc. The significant attention was paid to data processing andto the analysis of results.The method of focus-groups was offered for receiving the qualitative information concerning opinions, the attitude and tastes of consumers of housing and communal services. Advantages and disadvantages of the method and restrictions concerning its application were considered. There were described organizational and technical aspects of organizing and carrying out focus-groups.
