Effect of nitric oxide on uptake of neurotransmitter by synaptosomes via plasma membrane transporter, distribution of neurotransmitter between synaptic vesicle pool and cytosolic pool,neurotransmitter release as a result of realization of exocytotic process , the effect of nitric oxide on the last step of exocytosis - fusion of synaptic vesicles with presynaptic membrane were investigated. It is known that proteolytic enzyme calpain modifying the structural membrane proteins and cytoskeletal proteins is involved in the exocytosis.It was shown that NO inhibited enzyme activity and it was supposed that nitric oxide could be a calpain activity regulator and thus influences membrane fusion.
