The combined elastic and inelastic electron transmission through a molecular wire is considered. Current and conductance of the wire are accounted for the case of strong and weak coupling between a molecular wire and electrodes. The effect of current blocking is revealed. It is shown that in the case of nonidentical coupling of the molecular wire to the electrodes, a rectification effect becomes possible.5635
