The object of the research is a foreign language discourse as a structure and a process whose pragmatic, cognitive and socioethnic properties are studied. The main purpose of the research consists in the complex and systematic analysis of the foreign language discourse within the framework of modern advances in pragmalinguistics, cognitive linguistics, ethnolinguistics, sociolinguistics and text linguistics as well as in the synthesis of the obtained data with pedagogic theories of foreign language speaking skills development. The following methods are used: semantic and pragmatic discourse interpretation, text analysis, linguistic surveillance and description, contextual, situational, quantitative and qualitative analyses, as well as the elements of a psychological and pedagogical experiment. In the study discourse analysis principles are formulated; a general theory of pragmatic implication is developed; theoretic synthesis of ways to realise lies as a discursive phenomenon is carried out; theoretic bases for outlining of realisation mechanisms of linguistic and discursive model of time in scientific and non-scientific picture of the world are provided; cognitive principles of conflict discourse formation and production are formulated; mechanisms of implicit meanings definition and characteristic features of the hint speech act in the indirect German discourse are developed; the role of stereotypes as the basis of local strategies of confrontation in the English discourse is revealed; cognitive and communicative features of political discourse are studied; problems of the English joke typology are outlined as well as phonetic and stylistic bases of eptomisation in the German language; the English parody text viewed intertextually is featured pragmatically and stylistically; functions of nonverbal discourse elements are developed; conceptual bases for modelling are presented, correlation between artificial neural networks and problems of studying of theemotion concept are provided; cognitive features of discourse metaphors are described; peculiarities of a regulatory function realisation for gender-biased units in the English discourse are revealed; conceptual features and verbal expression of the cognitive picture of the world in the mentality of English and German linguistic and cultural communities are analysed; the concept of communicative skills development as well as peculiarities of teaching communicative competence and generation of the foreign language discourse are outlined.
