Research object. The forest plantations of Western Ukraine and their representations on the satellite images are the research objects. Research goal is creation of the forest map of Western Ukraine by elaborating techniques of automatic/semiautomatic interpretation of several resolution satellite images by using modern methods of decoding remote sensing data (Knowledge-Based Method, Supervised classification for maximum likelihood rule, SVM-machine et.). We used modern satellite images and ground research technologies (like "Field-Map") for forest interpretation. The digital thematic forest map of Western Ukraine was created. It can be used for forest GIS and for estimation of forest vegetation. Our technique of forest interpretation allows getting information about behavior of woodiness in the research region. Research methods. The development of computer technologies allows possibility of modeling and analyzing of spatial forest cover. The modern remote sensing technologies guarantee the possibilities of estimating forest information that are needed for problems determination. The technologies include enhancement spatial, spectral, radiometric, geometric and time properties of satellite images. The deduction and induction methods were used for image interpretation.
