The greatest application was found by bottom electrodes which consist of copper and steel parts of different section. Technology of receipt of bimetallic purveyances of such bottom electrodes is related the methods of welding of steel and copper parts to considerable technological difficulties and, foremost, with large penetration of weldable edges and to the receipt in the welding steel-copper stitch of undesirable structures which inevitably bring to the sharp worsening it over physics-mechanical properties and, as a result to the undesirable overheat of electrode and violation of stable work of arc stove. In this work theoretical and experimental researches of process of forming of bimetallic bars were conducted with the use of electroslag remelting on the basis of which developed and tested in experimental-industrial terms new flowsheet of electroslag remelting on two circuit to the chart in current conductive mould (CCM) for the receipt of steelcopper of bottom electrodes of variable section with the set type of transitional area for the arc stoves of direct-current, and also the results of research of quality of purveyances of steelcopper of bottom electrodes of variable section are resulted, namely conducted mikro- and makro researche of transitional area of heterogeneous metals of bimetallic bars, got with the use of ESR DS, which testify to high quality of bimetallic ingots.
