From 500 strains of microorganisms of various taxonomic groups 2 strains have been selected, which displayed high a-amylase activity in their cultural liquids. The conditions of extracellular a-amylase have been picked out. Optimal original values of medium pH, which influence as well on producer growth and a-amylase synthesis have been established. It was shown that majority of tested coordinative substances of germanium with different ligands are a-amylase inhibitors. The studies of Bacillus subtilis 147 and Aspergillus sp.55 substrate specificity indicate that enzymes are typical a-amylases, which in different degree are capable to hydrolise high polimeric substrates
