Exploitation of diesels takes place mainly in heavy terms with variable specific power which promotes the thermal and mechanical loading on the detail of cylinder and piston group, that results in the such negative consequences, as a decline of wearproof of working surfaces of tribosystem in the period of rolling and exploitation of diesels; increase of mechanical losses in tribosystemah, and as a result, growth of charges of fuel and butter on carbon-monoxide fumes; rise of breach of gases in carter; reduction of term of exploitation of diesels. In modern terms to the diesels the requirements of reduction of duration of time and charges on the stand and operating rolling are pulled out; reduction of intensity of wear of tribosystem after their rolling; providing of the speed-up forming of optimum microgeometric and acquisition of necessary physical and mechanical properties of surfaces of tribosystem. Conformity to the law of change of the technical state of diesels, generalization of methods of their diagnostics and prognostication of resource, which would take into account individual features and external environments in the system of technical service and repair is actual direction of researches also. Introduction of monitoring of the technical state of diesels in the process of exploitation will allow shortening the expenditures related to premature repair, and the rational use of their resource will result in the considerable economy of materials, reduction of power and labour charges.
