Based on learning and analyzing the corresponding foreign experience and the conditions of the functioning of this country's financial system, the authors have identified the foundations of comprehensive security of banking institutions and their individual types. They systematized the threats to the banking system's security and the reasons of their emergence, developed an assessment methodology for the security level of a banking system and revealed the factors that affect it, justified the mechanisms of ensuring comprehensive security of a banking system and its individual types, defined the guidelines to improve the system of the insurance of bank deposits and to develop banking insurance, and prepared various proposals to improve financial monitoring in the banking system.
