Genetic diversity of the mitochondrial genome was determinated, particularly genetic epidemiology, clinical forms, and violations of the pathogenetic mechanisms for the implementation of the mitochondrial energy metabolism in populations of the Eastern Ukraine. Diagnostic algorithms for genetic screening of mitochondrial diseases among the population were developed . Recommendations for treatment and rehabilitation of patients with mitochondrial diseases used practically.
