In Jurkat/А4 cells, the content of proapoptotic proteins Bad and BNip-1 was reduced, while the content of antiapoptotic proteins CAS and XIAP was elevated as compared with that in the initial Jurkat cell line. The irradiation of Jurkat/А4 cells followed by quercetin exposure resulted in the enhancement of the apoptotic effect of ionizing radiation. In cells of patients with B-cell chronic lymphoblastic leukemia, preincubation with quercetin for 1-3 days resulted in significant sensitization to induction of apoptosis by DNA-topoisomerase II inhibitor vepeside. In Jurkat/А4 cells resistant to cytotoxic chemotherapeutic substances the sensitivity to apoptosis induction is reduced independent of apoptosis inducers used (cytotoxic drugs, polyphenols, ionizing radiation).
