(2) publishing of scientific and methodological works and ensuring of for the proper level of foreign language teaching according to the new curricula academic training resources. (3) compiling and editing polytechnical dictionaries. The following research methods were used: word-formation analysis; quantitative analysis; modelling of a lexial-semantic field/group, semantic and word-formation structure of a word/term; methods of semantic analysis (componential analysis, a contextual one); methods of communicational and functional analysis and text and discourse analysis. The results are presented in scientific publications, in the text-books and manuals recommended and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine as well as in dictionaries compiled at the Department of Foreign Languages for improving the process of studies and up-dating academic training resources. Scientific and methodological publications have been approbated in the University ESP courses for students bachelors, masters, post-graduate students and probationers. Practical results are implemented in defending diploma works in a foreign language and senior students' technical translations. Another sphere of the Department activity being of great importance for the University is its cooperation with other Institutes of Lviv Polytechnic, namely: - translations; - editing of the English version of technical literature, particularly scientific magazines of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and the Institute of Electronics, Radioengineering and Telecommunications as well as editing of polytechnical dictionaries.
