Current features of distribution of bottom sediments and bottom communities in the central and southern Kerch Strait which are subject to considerable anthropogenic impact were investigated. As a consequence of transformation of currents' system caused by the construction of the damb in Tuzla scour in 2003, and recurrent dredging operations the change of geological characteristics of bottom sediments took place in the central Kerch Strait before 2004.
