A mathematical model allowing to calculate the electrodynamic characteristics of two-dimensional periodic arrays with arbitrary sized inclusions of materials with arbitrary electrical characteristics has been developed. The one-valued solvability of initial-boundary value and boundary value problems of the theory of two-dimensional periodic lattices is proven that allows validating stability and convergence of numerical algorithms. A grid-based computer-aided electrodynamic design system for complex microwave devices has been developed. The global optimization algorithm using the particle swarm optimization method has been implemented and configured.
