Accumulation of phenolic compounds, including ?-tocopherol and isoflavones under salicylic acid effect correlated with increasing of total radical-scavenging activity of photosynthetic soybean tissues. These results indicate activation of regulatory mechanisms to control the content and composition of antioxidants during adaptive responses of plants to stress conditions and provide the basics for engineering of crops with increased tolerance and antioxidant properties.
