Purpose - to study the regularities of structure formation in steels and cast irons to heat treatment with cooling in bulk graphite. The research results - the analysis of processes of what be going on at heat treatment wares is conducted with the use of cooling in liquid and gaseous environments. It is rotined that these environments do not allow to use internal heat structural-phase transformations in the process of heat treatment for development of energy maintainance technologies.
