Object of research - the annealing process of carbon and alloy steels and cast irons cooled in solid graphite. Purpose - to study the regularities of structure formation in steels and cast irons to heat treatment with cooling in bulk graphite. The research results - the analysis of processes of what be going on at heat treatment wares is conducted with the use of cooling in liquid and gaseous environments. It is rotined that these environments do not allow to use internal heat structural-phase transformations in the process of heat treatment for development of energy maintainance technologies. The method of research of structural-phase transformations is developed at heating and cooling of stiles, that allowed to define the temperature intervals of indicated transformations. The method of determination of mass of wares is developed for the receipt of necessary structure at heat treatment with cooling in a friable graphite. Offered decision on the use of cooling in a friable graphite for development of energy maintainance technologies on the example of stiles 45 and 45Х3ГНМФ.
