Mineral composition of the sludge particles after separation in the magnetic and the gravitational fields and technological analysis was studied, thus enabling to determine their mineral origin and to offer a novel classification principle. Thermodynamic modelling confirms a possibility of oxidation the iron-bearing oxides to magnetite in the silicate melt. Phase transformations during oxidation processes were experimentally studied in the synthetic and in the industrial slags. Numerical modelling and experimental study confirm a possibility of the magnetite crystals separation from the silicate melt due to the electromagnetic buoyancy force.
