Peculiar inventory etnoistorychnoyi and cultural heritage of the Carpathian region made it possible to detect more than 300 unknown monuments from different historical periods and character. Only in the Galician Hutsulshchyna, which in historical and archaeological plan is still considered maloperspektyvnoyu, localized at 150 unique sites. Among them are dozens of medieval monasteries and more than three dozen rock sanctuaries with unique sculptures, reliefs and pictures. Along with the known complexes petrohlifichnymy Balkans, the Caucasus, Karelia, the Andes, Tibet opened a large group of rock churches of the Ukrainian Carpathians. As a new source of material they first entered into the scientific revolution.
