Objective: To develop ellipsometric technique to investigate layers of nanoparticles, taking into account interparticle interactions. Methods: ellipsometry of layers of nanoparticles and simulation of electromagnetic interactions by the method of effective polarizability. The main problem in the study of nanostructured films on the surface is taking into account interactions between particles comprising the film. In contrary to the case of three-dimensional nanocomposites, films on the surface are geometrically anisotropic what complicates the problem and makes the use of standard models of effective medium approximation (Maxwell-Garnett, Bruheman) nonappropriate to describe such films. We have been developing an approach based on the solution of the Lipman-Schwinger equation, which allows to determine the optical responce of such films via the tensor of effective polarizability. In the frame of the local field approach we have developed a theoretical model of the optical response of sub-monolayer of nanoparticles covering the surface. The effective susceptibility was calculated for the model of a substrate with particles of the form of an ellipsoid of revolution on it. It allowed to define the dependence of reflection coefficients and ellipsometric parameters on the angle of incidence and frequency. The presence of nanoparticles on the surface makes a significant contribution to elipsometrichni parameters that can be experimentally measuring. It was found that the ellipsometric parameters depend on the concentration and form of particles.
