The technique for specification of known constitutive equations to describe the elastic-plastic deformation of a transversely isotropic material is elaborated. The technique is based on the use of basic experiments on tubular specimens subjected to tension and internal pressure with a different ratio of principal stresses. Based on this technique, the method for determination the state of an axisymmetric physically nonlinear thin orthotropic shells is developed.
