This irregularity is conditioned by the feature of force transfer by the standard shoe brake system. Therefore wide spreading belongs to divided braking systems, which let to increase the efficiency factor of the lever transmission, increase stiffness of the components, raise reliable performance of the braking system etc. In this case questions concerning the choice of the lever transmission ratios, which meet the requirements and operating conditions of railcars optimally, became questions of great importance.Test results for braking systems (standard and divided) of different freight cars types were analyzed. In the process of research the reasonability of divided brake systems usage for raising braking force stability was grounded, transmission ratio of lever transmissions in divided brake systems was proposed for the unification of freight cars lever transmissions, which take care not only for providing efficient braking effectiveness, but also for excluding wheel slide effect when operated.
