Subject of research is the open-top wagon, model 12-9904, manufactured by CJSC "Donetsksteel" - metallurgical plant". The object of research is the preliminary tests series of the open-top wagon, model 12-9904 to assess the compliance of the observed values with applicable regulations and design documentation. In this report the results of the suitability of the wagon limiting dimensions, determination of empty weight and geometrical dimensions, evaluation of wagon interaction with a car dumper, strength static tests, quasi-static tests, impact tests, running strength and running dynamic tests, brake tests at standstill and brake running tests of the open-top wagon, model 12-9904 are presented and evaluated for compliance with design documentation. R&D results are applicable to serial preproduction of the open-top wagon 12-9904.
