Aim: based on the study of patterns of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality to identify risk factors in persons affected by the Chornobyl accident, to develop measures of medical and social care. Methods: epidemiological, medical-and-statistical, modeling. Results. Using data of the SRU for 1988-2010 and CER for 1992-2010, there were conducted cohort epidemiological studies of patterns of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality among clean-up workers 1986-1987, evacuees, residents of contaminated areas with regard to age, sex, dose and time after radiation exposure; peculiarities in the development of eye diseases in individuals exposed in utero were investigated; clinical and epidemiological study of diseases of reproductive system in female clean-up workers with circulatory diseases was completed; there were developed mathematical models to estimate and forecast the risk of circulatory diseases and deaths from them in clean-up workers and evacuees in the post-accident period. Based on the data of SRU, an increase of cardiovascular morbidity in cohorts of clean-up workers and adult evacuees was revealed for post-accident period. Chronic ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular diseases, vascular diseases (arteries, arterioles, capillaries, veins and lymphatic vessels) and hypertension are predominant in cardiovascular morbidity structure. Increase in cardiovascular mortality rates was noted among the Chornobyl clean-up workers and adult evacuees. According to the SRU, calculated and estimated risks for the development of circulatory diseases and deaths from them in clean-up workers were adjusted for whole body external doses, age at the time of exposure, time at risk. Characteristics of cardiovascular morbidity in residents of contaminated areas were investigated using CER data. According to CER data, for adults evacuated from 30-km estrangement zone in childhood and adolescence, patterns of cardiovascular disease depending on gender, age at the time of evacuation and heredity were defined; information on the prevalence of non-radiation risk factors for the diseases was obtained. CER data were used in cohort epidemiological studies to investigate features of cardiovascular morbidity in male clean-up workers and adult at the time of the accident female evacuees; radiation and non-radiation risks were defined. Eye examination in children exposed in utero revealed higher percentage of diagnosed eye and cardiovascular diseases. Structure of cardiovascular diseases in female clean-up workers suffered with diseases of reproductive system was examined. Mathematical models were used to estimate and forecast risks for circulatory diseases and deaths from them in clean-up workers and evacuees in the post-accident period.
