Purpose - a comprehensive ecological and geochemical assessment of natural recreation resource potential in the basin of Ke and working out a concept of sustainable development of the area, taking into account the current state of the environment and the quality of the natural ecosystem in the study area. According to comprehensive research we analyzed the basic recreational potential in the basin of Ke, the extent of its current use, defined natural resources perspective to increase recreational resource capacity of the study area, proposed methodology and methods of evaluation of natural resources, based on a comprehensive, systematic, geochemical approaches according to criteria of qualitative and quantitative characteristics given the modern state of their formation environment and the quality of the natural ecosystem of the study area. For the first time for the Odessa region, according to a generalization of the results of original multi (2000-2012 years) comprehensive studies of natural components on a grid that covers 34 monitoring stations in the basin of Ke, we made environmental assessment of its major natural resources for recreational purposes: water (Ke and its waterways), healthcare (brine, sulfide silt, beach areas of Ke), plants and land (coastal part of Ke) evaluated the dynamics of their changes under the influence of climatic and anthropogenic factors on the natural environment of the study area, estimated the main causes of estuary aquatic ecosystem degradation, developed recommendations to restore recreational capacity of Ke and preserve unique natural complexes of the study area. In order to identify patterns of transformation processes in the target ecosystem for the first time identified migration routes of macro and microcomponents in the "precipitation - water-sediment-soil-water and ground vegetation" system. Established that soil and vegetation are considered as geochemical barrier. By the results obtained in the basin of Ke upgraded existing electronic database for monitoring thematic layers: water, sediment, soil. Developed the structure and formed 2 new databases of algal flora species composition in the basin of Ke and adjacent waters and ground flora for 2004-2012 years. Based on basin approach developed the structure "GIS assessment of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems in the basin of the estuary", developed a number of automated calculation modules to assess components of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems in the basin of Ke: by percent abundance of elements in lithosphere and hydrosphere; multiplicity of exceeding sanitary and toxicological standards for surface waters of recreational purpose, soil; comprehensive assessment of water quality using index for water pollution; ecological assessment of water quality by block and integral indices. With the use of GIS technology performed spatial analysis of ecological condition of Ke aquatic ecosystem (water, sediment) on major toxicants of organic and inorganic nature and prepared atlas of thematic maps according to the annual average for the period 2000-2012 years. Based on the obtained results the major factors of Ke basin degradation established. Established that lately as a result of increasing anthropogenic pressure and climate change intensified the processes of evaporation, uptrend of water mineralization, increasing land area with the signs of desert, that contributes to the sand - salt aerosol leaching and leads to a decrease in the biological productivity of Ke, changes in the state and structure of plant communities and ultimately - reduction of natural resources of the estuary and the loss of their balneologic quality and reduction of recreational capacity of natural ecosystem. Results summarizing material of the field and laboratory studies of algal flora and terrestrial flora reflected in the "Atlas of Kuyalnyk estuary coastal flora" and manuscript "Atlas of algal flora of Kuyalnyk estuary and adjacent waters" which describes 478 species of ground flora and 218 species of algal flora. Given recommendations for optimizing the ecological state of the Ke environment and restoration of its recreational capacity, proposed concept of future development of the study area. Research Methods: The authors used modern complex of physical and chemical methods, including atomic absorption spectrometry, UV-spectrophotometry, titration methods, ionometry, gravimetry and instrumental measurements; lengthy series of original observations of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems and their comparison with the data of other researchers. For mapping used cartographic materials and software developed by "ESRI"; when conducting field research - ground and aerial imagery. Coordinate referencing of observation stations and measurement of morphometric characteristics were carried out using satellite navigation devices. Novelty, scientific and practical significance: for the first time to assess the ecological condition of the recreational potential of Ke and natural complexes of surrounding areas implemented system integrated geochemical approach, which allows to evaluate dynamic changes that occur due to human and climatic factors, to investigate patterns of migration and accumulation of toxic compounds in natural ecosystems of Ke. These results contribute to the further development of the theory of the functioning of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems in conditions of high mineralization of environments and anthropogenic pollution, can be used in strategy development of the Odessa region, for large-scale involvement in economic circulation and rational use of unique natural resource potential of Kuyalnyk estuary and adjacent areas, only silts of which are estimated at 7.5 billion U.S. dollars; in the development of measures to restore the natural water regime of Kuyalnyk estuary, elaboration of State programs to save Kuyalnyk estuary, organization of protected areas in order to preserve the unique flora on the coast of Ke, comprising more than 250 species of valuable medicinal plants; developing measures to restore natural recreational resources in the basin of Kuyalnyk estuary.
