The analysis of international experience in development and operation of monitoring coastal processes is made. According to instrumental observations, dynamics of the coastal zone in the reference ranges in western Crimea in 2011-2013 is determined. Current state and evolution of Bakal Spit is evaluated. The aspects of human impact on the Black Sea coast of Crimea are considered. Characteristics of spatial distribution and vertical stratification of total suspended matter in the coastal zone of the Azov-Black Sea basin are given, and the features of development of abrasive-accumulative processes on Tuzla Island under the meridional winds are shown. According to the meteorological stations and reanalysis data, analysis of climate and interannual changes of wave activity is made and statistical characteristics of wind waves in the Black Sea Coast of Crimea are determined. On the basis of mathematical models, extreme shifts in the sea level in Karkinitsky Bay under intense weather disturbances are evaluated. Dependence of the structure and parameters of longshore drifts in the coastal zone of the Western Crimea on the direction of storm winds is studied, characteristics of wave currents in Kalamita bay are determined. According to ultra-high resolution satellite images and full-scale measurements, the changes of shoreline of accumulative coasts of Western Crimea and was determined and their response to changes in the sea level. The results of numerical experiments in calculation of wave fields, currents and sediment movement in the West Coast of the Crimea are considered. The forecast of catastrophic floods and mudslides in the Crimean rivers is made on the basis of hydrometeorological models with high spatial and temporal resolution.
