The methods for studying the processes of dynamical interactions of elements of the moving multimass nonlinear systems and their interactions with the rail gauge have received the further progress resulting in intensive study of vibrations of elements for a mechanical system of the railway car and track. Equivalence of two definitions of the phenomenom of jamming is validated and geometric conditions of jamming for plane systems with two and three friction contacts as well as initial conditions of gripping and jamming for some dry-friction units of railway vehicles are determined. Results of a comparative analysis of two definitions of jamming for plane mechanical systems with the Coulomb friction are implemented for 3D systems under equilibrium conditions. A mathematical model of space vibrations of a railway vehicle considering an improved model of interactions between wheels and rails with distributed creep forces is developed including a conform contact of two bodies of the known configuration. Based on multiple measurements of profiles of contact surfaces in wheel-rail operation with various wear, important special features of wear of a wheel-rail pair are established. Standard forms of wheels and rails with various wear are built. Theoretical investigations are conducted and a new wear-resistant profile of a car wheel rim is proposed providing a conform flange contact with worn outer rails in circular curves, a significant decrease in wear and improvement of a stressed-strained state of a wheel-rail pair. Calculations of rational parameters of elements for a complex retrofit of the 18-100 bogie model of open wagons are made improving their dynamic qualities and decreasing wear of running gears. Effects of new elements for current retrofitted and advanced bogies on dynamic and life indexes of a freight car, including diagonal coupling between side frames and elastic adapters of axle-box units, are studied. New models of calculated disturbances for theoretical estimations of maximum values of normalized dynamic indexes of railway vehicles are developed. An approximated method of a qualitative estimation of the railway track considering settlement and misalignment of rail lines is proposed, based on experimental records of vertical accelerations of side frames of the freight vehicle bogies. Routine inspections of cars with complex-retrofitted bogies in the frame of the C03.04 project have been made in operation and scheduled repairs. Recommendations for improving dynamic qualities and decreasing contact interactions and wear of elements of the rolling stock and tract are made. Applications: theoretical investigations of forced oscillation of railway vehicles and improvement in the rolling stock of railways. Results can be used to analyze mechanical systems with friction contacts, to investigate vibrations of railway vehicles, to improve a complex retrofit of current designs and to create new designs of running gears of the rolling stock.
