Object of research: the publications of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv, 1940-1970. Purpose of research is to study the publishing activity of the Library during 1940-1970, the main types of publications. Research objectives are to reveal the aspects of publishing activity of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv, to examine its scientific contributions, the impact of historical factors on the subject and typology of its publications. Methods defined by the specific subject of study and are based on the reliability of the historical knowledge - historical, diachronic, bibliographic descriptive, structural and typological, problem-thematic, genre and stylistic. The study laid the historical and typological principle which allows to differentiate the Library's publications of the Soviet period in the general historical context. The results: The main types of publications that were published by library staff during 1940-1970 were analysed; bibliographic database of Library's publications was supplemented; biographies of persons involved in the editorial and publishing process were written; a name card index was created.
