Object of research - methods and IT for satellite data processing. Objective is to develop methods and IT for processing satellite images acquired in different spectrum of electromagnetic emission for: solving applied problems for soil moisture assessment, snow cover, and food risk assessment; development of a pilot distributed system for decision support in Ukraine and Belarus and for international organisations. Methods of research include image processing techniques, structural analysis, object-oriented design. Scientific report covers verification of methods for flood mapping from SAR satellite imagery, development of method for flood risk assessment, and the development of geospatial service for decision support in case of emergency (floods). Validation is done using ground measurements and optical satellite imagery (cross-validation). For flood risk assessment, a new method for flood probability density estimation is proposed. For this, a time-series of satellite images is processed using statistical techniques. A decision support system is developed that provides operation disaster services based on remote sensing images. Advantages of the system include dynamic content formation, visualization of geospatial information using standardized internaitonal services.
