Karazin popup.description2 Object of inquiry is foreign speech activities, and the subject is its semantic, cognitive, pragmatic and didactic aspects. Research objective is integrative study of foreign language communication, in particular of its cognitive structures - concepts and categories - with due consideration of latest works in the theory of discourse, cognitive linguistics, pragmalinguistics, cultural studies, sociolinguistics, functional stylistics and practical application of obtained results in translation studies and methods of teaching foreign communication and translation. Methodological basis of research is the principle of anthropocentrism, embodied in the interpretation of language as an active medium of mental objects' generation, but not passive means of their reflection. Methodical support of linguistic search covers linguistic observation and description, conceptual analysis, semantic and pragmatic discourse interpretation, contextual and situational analysis, frame-based and prototypal modelling, as well as elements of quantitative and statistical analysis. In this study, theoretical and methodological foundation for studies of foreign language discourse as an interactive medium of mental objects' creation is substantiated: role of the subject as of discursive activity factor is shown; cognitive and discursive tools for analyzing complex syntax in English political discourse is offered; cognitive structures of foreign discourse are studied: concepts of communicative behavior are investigated; matrix simulation of basic concepts of English-speaking worldview is completed; functional and stylistic together with genre aspects of foreign language discourse are revealed: eponyms with a verbalization component to the concept of MAN in philosophic discourse are studied; comic discourse of linguistic identity of the child in modern linguistic and cultural British and US space is examined; set features of English-language stand-up comedy as a genre of comic institutional discourse are determined; discourse properties of criticism in English-speaking articles are described; particularities of non-verbal components' functioning of communication in the English-speaking business dialogical discourse are detected; linguistic and grammatical aspects of foreign language discourse are highlighted: linguistic and grammatical aspects of discrimination in publicistic discourse are revealed; evaluation as part of utterance in the focus of functional and communicative paradigm is analyzed; cognitive and pragmatic properties of tautological expressions are revealed; role of the comic effect in realization of confrontational strategy of English political insult is established; the ways of optimizing teaching foreign languages in the context of cognitive and discursive approach is offered: cognitive strategies of future translators in conditions of entropy are described; organizational and pedagogical activity for conflict competence formation is studied; the content of profession-oriented translation competence of future philologists is outlined; special aspects of using mother tongue in teaching foreign language are determined; method of inoculating grammatical skills in interpretation from Ukrainian into English to future philologists is built up.
