Purpose - to improve performance and reproductive traits of birds by influencing the metabolism by normalization of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the ratio of omega -6: Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in feed for chickens and chicks. Research Methods - zootechnical, biochemical, immunological, statistics. A methodology for improved performance and reproductive traits of poultry by rationing in omega -3 polyunsaturated fatty acids ( PUFAs) and the ratio of omega -6: omega -3 PUFAs in compound feed : content standards, best value, critical periods, criteria for monitoring , compa-rative description of sources. The best is the content of omega -3 PUFAs in the fodder for chickens and hens within 0,20-0,45 %, providing more intensive growth of chicken ( live weight at 17 weeks up to 3,7-4,7 %), lower costs feed by 4.2 %, increase the homogeneity of the flock and increase the intensity of egg laying chickens. Ratio of omega -6: omega -3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the diet of chickens has more pronounced effects on reproductivity, than on performance. Ratio of omega -6: omega -3 PUFA at 8-10:1 was the best effekt on reproductivity and the formation of relatively young animals daily immunity to Newcastle disease by maternal antibodies. In the diet of laying hens industrial value may fluctuate more widely - 8-20:1 , without adversely affecting performance . In growing chicks appeared optimal ratio of omega -6 : omega -3 PUFAs in the fodder at level 6-8:1, which enhances the intensity of growth, better feed conversion and reduce cost of feed per 1 kg with increase to 3-6%. The economic effect of rationing of omega -3 PUFAs and the ratio of omega -6 : omega -3 PUFAs in the diet of breeding hens is 1900 UAH per 1000 heads with using flaxseed oil and 590 UAH with using soybean oil; the economic effect of omega-3 PUFAs rationing in the diet of chicks is 460 UAH per 1000 heads of replacement chicks using linseed oil.
