The subject of the investigation is didactic and methodological bases of school book's making and its practical use in secondary schools. The purpose is to identify and summarize tendencies in theory and practice of school book and interrelationships of these processes in the context of the reform of secondary education in Ukraine. Analysis, synthesis, simulation teaching and experiment are the methods of the investigetion. Theoretical bases of school books for primary schools are investigated. Essence of school book's manufacturability addressed to younger students, and its structural components are clarified. The methods of analysis of motivational function of primary school book and the technology of organization of work with school book are elaborated. The model of future teachers training to use school books in secondary schools is grounded. At the conclusion of the investigation 4 Ph.D thesises are defended, 35 articles are published in professional journals, 5 school books are published (3 school books are with a seal of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine). Following courses are designed: "Theory and Practice of school books in primary education" (for obtaining master's degree) and "School book for elementary School: didactic and methodological aspects" (for obtaining Specialist Degree).
