Reactions of 1- and 7-substituted 8-bromoxanthine with primary and secondary amines, amino acids have been studied. Optimal conditions for the synthesis of ilidenhydrazides of 1-benzyltheobromine-8-ylthioalkanic acids and 8-benzylidenhydrazinoxanthines have been proposed. Reactions of synthesized 8-bromoxanthines with S-containing nucleophiles have been studied and conditions for the synthesis of 8-thioxanthines have been proposed. Laboratory methods for the synthesis of oxazolo[2,3-f]-, thiazolo[2,3-f]xanthinyl-8-alkanic and 8-aminoxanthinyl-7-acetic acids and their amides, ammonium salts of derivatives of 8-N-piperazinoxanthine, water-soluble salts of 3-benzyl(phenyl)-8-hydroxymethylxanthines have been developed. Reactions of alkylation of 3-aryl(aralkyl)-8-hydroxymethylxanthines have been studied. Synthetic methods of S-substituted 3-benzyl-8-methyl-7-[(4-phenyl-5-thio-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)methyl]xanthine derivatives have been proposed. The structure of synthesized compounds has been proved by the data of elemental analysis, IR-, NMR- spectroscopy and mass-spectrometry. Antioxidant, anti-hypoxic, diuretic, analgetic, anti-inflammatory, antiamnestic, anticonvulsive activities, bactericidal action in the experiments in vitro and in vivo have been studied for the synthesized substances. Acute toxicity has been studied for the obtained substances. The considerable perspective of synthesized compounds for drugs design with said action has been shown. According to results of the biological research substances that can be used as antioxidant, anti-hypoxic, diuretic, analgetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-amnestic, anti-convulsive, bactericidal agents after the necessary additional researches have been detected.
