Compounds completely inhibiting enzyme in vitro at micromolar concentrations were found. The mechanism of biological activity of inhibitors was studied. Highly sensitive fluorescent labels for the detection of nucleic acids in gels in picogram quantities were found among cyanines. Compounds with high antitumor activity in U87MG cell culture (glioma) were found: acridine, phenazine and benzimidazole derivatives with IC50 in the range 208 uM and cyanines active at submicromolar concentrations (IC50 0.5-0.7 uM).
